Tonight's Elite:Dangerous livestream gave us the most complete information about the chieftain so far.

The hard-point placement is all along the centre-line and combined with its agility, this makes it a perfect ship for fixed weapons.

The medium hardpoint is on the underside of the cockpit. This means most of your firepower is on the top of the ship.

Are you sure about the absence of a fighter bay ? If I recall correctly, they said in the stream that they weren't sure about this.

  Yes. Steve Kirby stated it the hatch on the bottom was the cargo bay. There is no other hatch on the underside, making an 18m square fighter bay door being absent a certainty. Now, it's entirely possible it could be retro-fitted but I would think it very unlikely.
  The Krait DOES have an SLF bay, so that's the ship you'll want for SLF.

I am dissapointed in this ship.
it could have been great with some moving thrusters (VTOL) so you could land on 8G planets or so and some better exploration fearures.
but not this shit.
please fix

  Well, I laughed. Read the "About" page. I'm not Frontier. The BETA is open for a few weeks. If you want the Chieftain changed, I suggest submitting some constructive feedback via Frontier's forums. Good luck CMDR!
